The St. Kate’s track and field team had a successful last meet before next week’s MIAC Indoor Championships. The Wildcats turned in nine season bests, six personal bests and one school record at the Ole Qualifier meet.
Kayla Engel set her second school record in successive weeks. This week she took down the 600 meter record, finishing second overall in 1:38.03.
Finishing just behind Engel, and turning in a new personal best, was senior team captain Amanda Manship. Her time of 1:40.89 is now #4 All-Time at St. Kate’s.
Fellow senior team captains Celestine Ventura and Samantha Larson led a 1-2 finish for the Wildcats in the shot put. Ventura’s mark of 12.62 m (41-5 ft) edged out her teammate Larson, 12.57 m (41-3ft). Larson’s mark was a new personal best, while Ventura just missed her own school record in the event.
Other personal bests for the Wildcats included:
Kelsey Eder in the 800 meter run.
Jennifer Ampe in the pole vault.
The Wildcats next compete on March 5th and 6th at the MIAC Championships hosted by Carleton College.
