Head Coach Madge Makowske
Coach Madge Makowske in now in her seventeenth season directing the Wildcat Softball program. Under Coach Makowske’s leadership, the St. Kate’s teams have continued to develop in all areas. The Wildcats consistently rank in the top half of the conference and have broken all school records set prior to her tenure. Off the field, the team maintains honors with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for their team GPA and also with the MIAC for individual academic all-conference honors.  

This past summer, Coach Makowske earned the highest ranking in the softball coaching profession. She achieved her Four Star Master Coach status through the NFCA. She is also a NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy Graduate, has served as the director of the U.S. Sports/Nike Softball Camps and has been a lead clinician for Centennial Little League Fastpitch, Forest Lake Fastpitch, Southwest Area Fastpitch, YWCA sports day and St. Kate’s Clinics.
 
In addition to her duties with the softball team, Makowske serves as the associate athletic director and compliance officer for the university and has also been a member on both the NCAA Midwest Regional Ranking Committee and the NFCA top 25 ranking committee.

Before arriving at St. Kate’s, Madge spent five years as the head softball coach at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. In 1994, she led her ARCC team to a second-place finish at the Minnesota Community College State championships, the team's highest finish in school history. Coach Makowske has also been the director of many camps and clinics including the U.S. Sports/Nike Softball Camps. Makowske maintains certifications through the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the American Red Cross and the USA Weightlifting Association.
 
In college Madge established herself as a versatile and dominant athlete. She competed in five intercollegiate sports including softball, soccer, basketball, tennis, and volleyball. During the 1986-87 school year Makowse was named Most Dedicated in volleyball, basketball, and softball.  She was also named MVP in softball. In 1986, she was also named the school's Female athlete of the year and the Most Valuable Student-Athlete (male or female) for her academic and athletic success.

 Madge is a longtime resident of the twin cities and received her Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from St. Catherine University in 2002 and completed her bachelor's degree in physical education and sports medicine with a minor in coaching from St. Cloud State University in 1991.
