Hallquist wins Chris Evert Award

The MIAC office announced today that St. Kate's senior Susie Hallquist has been named the 2009 Chris Evert Award winner.  The award is given out annually to one senior tennis student-athlete with outstanding sportsmanship and outstanding athletic, academic and humanitarian accomplishments.

Athletically, Susie has been an integral part of the College of St. Catherine tennis program since she started school here in 2005. She has lettered on the varsity tennis team all four years she has been at St. Kate's. Susie's dedication to her game has helped her to improve each year, resulting in her leading the team at #1 singles for the past two seasons, and receiving one MIAC All-Conference award.

Academically, Susie carries a 3.915 GPA and completed the honors program in English at St. Kate's.  She has been on the Dean's List since the fall semester of her freshman year and is a member of four honors societies: Sigma Tau Delta (International English Honors Society); Delta Phi Lambda (Writing Honors Society); Kappa Gamma Pi (national Catholic college honors society), and the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa national honor society.

Upon graduation Susie will participate in an international teaching program in Seoul South Korea for one year. She then plans to return to enroll at one of the many top-notch Midwest law schools that she has already been accepted into.
