The St. Kate's volleyball team recently held their post-season banquet where they handed out team awards and looked back on their record setting season.
The 2009 season is one in which the Wildcats finished tied for fourth in the MIAC and accumulated the most wins since the 1993 season. They team's final tallies included an 18-12 record overall, 6-5 in MIAC play. All told the Wildcats had 1,429 kills, and a .225 kill percentage. They recorded 1,265 assists, 2,106 digs, 176 service aces and 217 blocks.
Individually:
Team captain
Maria Hoffman earned her third consecutive MIAC All-Conference Award, set the single season record for kills with 369, and finished with 1,237 career kills.
Junior
Nicole Neumann set a single season record for digs with 565, earned the MIAC Sportsmanship Award, and was named one of the team captains for next season.
Hoffman and Neumann were co-recpients of the team's MVP award.
First Year
Nina Lindquist was named the MIAC Rookie of the Year while also setting the SCU single season record for set assists with 1,159.
Jackie Schreifels won the Wildcats Most Improved Player Award.
Megan Ahlbrecht and
Racquel Reker will join Neumann as team captains for next season.
